Druivensoort: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

“The Château Lynch-Moussas 2014 is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot. The wine is aged in 55% new French oak. It has a fragrant bouquet that shows a little more fruit intensity than the Batailley at this stage, perhaps more harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with gently grippy tannins and a pure core of cedar-infused fruit. With impressive density and focus on the finish, this is a top-notch Lynch Moussas and perhaps the first year where it may surpass the Castèja family’s Batailley. Excellent.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Classic aromas of lead pencil, blackcurrants and currant bush. Medium to full body, velvety tannins and a focused finish. A beauty. So classy and serious. Best ever? Hard not to drink now. Almost all cabernet sauvignon. Try in 2020.” – James Suckling

“Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Slightly obvious oak on the nose that doesn’t seem top-drawer. A little astringent. Perfectly fine but not one of the most ambitious. Stringy finish. Ticks the boxes.” – Jancis Robinson

“The 2014 Lynch-Moussas has open-knit red fruit on the nose: red cherries, raspberry and wild strawberry all tinged with vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied with a little sharpness on the entry, very traditional in style with an austere pencil-lead finish that at least contains decent freshness. This is a fine Lynch-Moussas that needs age. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.” – Vinous

“The earlier tannins in this wine have softened considerably. Now it is dominated by ripe fruit. The wine is soft and jammy with attractive black currants and a layer of firm tannins underneath. Drink from 2022.” – Wine Enthusiast
